Potato Gaming Reviews: Crusaders Quest [Android]

It's been a while since I updated my blog. Like 6 freaking months.
I don't wanna seem less like I'm "talking to myself", and since I've already put my mind of those useless emotional stuff I shall dedicate this place to only reviews.
Like, reviews of good food I eat, good games I play, and etc.

And maybe some insights of  my life that you guys don't wanna hear about. Just maybe.

Okay guys so..
CRUSADERS QUEST.

Just recently got into this RPG since Brave Frontier devs fail at maintaining the server.
And I must say.. It's pretty damn good. I'll go more into it below:

Gameplay:
Just like most of the Android RPGs, this game adopts a 2D side scrolling questing fiesta. But unlike up-to-date HD graphics that will ultimately suck your battery dry, this game uses freaking 8-bit characters and worlds.
That's right. 8-bits.
ALTHOUGH this may not sound very impressive to the modern gamer, this game manages to put everything together so nicely. And come on, 8-bit characters are cute imo.

This game's battles utilizes a chain-command system. Basically you just tap the blocks under the screen for the specific hero in your party to attack. Chain up to 3 blocks in a row for greater damage. If you chain enough blocks your hero can even unleash special skills.

Sounds like a pretty easy battle system to understand, but wait till you get to the harder stages. Timing your attacks and skills properly will be extremely vital to clearing the stage..

Few games manage to retain such playability on a hand-phone platform, without the use of boobies. I would recommend Brave Frontier, but it's developers are just shit.

Town:
Here's the town, where you can do all sorts of stuff (train your hero, upgrade weapons and skills, etc.). Crafted with an excellent finish. I can see how much effort is put into this 8-bit work LOL

Heroes:
Just like all RPGs and fantasy adventure bullshit, you have heroes of different classes. As of now there are currently 6 classes: Warrior, paladin, archer, hunter, magician and priest. Each class plays a specific role.. and blah blah blah.

The thing about this game is that it is pretty hard to complete without a priest on your squad (for healing) imo. And since the number of heroes you can deploy at once is 3, there isn't much flexibility..

But this also means that you can focus on grinding your preferred characters. Well.. grinding is another issue. Gold is extremely hard to earn in this game.. and you'll need a pretty huge amount of it just to promote your hero. But I guess this is the issue with most hand-phone games.. I mean, the developers need the money right? But don't let this fact stop you from trying this out, it's really not that bad~

Heroes can also be "summoned" at the price of jewels (the prestige in-game currency).. You decide for yourself if it's worth pumping real cash into this game.
Skills:
Don't expect flashy animations until your hero is of high rank.. Well anyway, this game boasts a neat arsenal of skills ranging from support, to offensive. And yes, you'll need money to unlock/upgrade them too.
Quests:
As you progress through the storyline, mini-quests will be made available. Although most of them can be done rather easily, you do not have the freedom to choose the quests you want to take (they are assigned randomly).. Well, I guess this makes the game a little less complicated.

(The rewards can range from gold to jewels.)
Event Dungeons:
The developers are kind enough to have an area for limited time dungeons. As of now, the "Chilly Bread Storage" gives players a bread reward (required for training for hero) upon completion. I have very high hopes for this game, and I do hope they come up with interesting dungeons/content in the future.

PVP Arenas:
Using the same battle systems as the ones in Quests, you can face off against opponent squads in the Colosseum. Although it is very difficult to rank up (imo), it is very interesting to be able to adopt the same level of engagement in both PVP and quests. Unlike Brave Frontier. pathetic game with pathetic developers.

Conclusion:

RPG fans and avid mobile gamers (and people who got bored of Brave Frontier) definitely won't regret giving this game a try. Ultimately this game will take time and effort, but nothing's impossible when I can put 250+ consecutive days of effort in a fu*king stupid game where the developers don't give a fu*k.

Peace out.

Potato Score: 8/10
